Learning a few things

Hey chop sticks,

I anticipated getting really drunk this past weekend. To my chagrin, it didn't really happen. Hell, I had a great reason to do it too. But I guess I lacked the motivation. (Big surprise right?)

However, I think the lack of alcohol consuption allowed for some reflection.

I have some really cool friends. They didn't tell me to "man up" or "get over it, pussy." They seemed generally concerned and a few even took me out for a beer. I'll return the favor soon enough (JAKE! You're getting wasted buddy!). So, to those of you who helped me get through that stuff, I thank you.

Also, video games seemed to help. Instead of taking out my naked agression on living things or objects of an expensive nature, I played Halo 2 and Madden 06. The alien killing and sheer football madness helped to sooth the pain. (I had 10 interceptions in one of my games... FUCK YOU PATRICK RAMSEY!)

Finally, after some reflection time, I realized that Amanda was right. Who in their right mind tries to enter a formal relationship in 2 weeks? Was I taking some sort of hallucinagenic drug without knowing it?

Ok, I actually just came to that realization 10 minutes ago while reading Playboy on the John. (Yeah, that was kinda over the line, but stay with me on this one.) The "Playboy Advisor" is one of my favorite things to read when I have the chance. One of the people who wrote in had a similar situation as mine... but he was WAY more eccentric about it. The advisor told him that he needs to build up a friendship first before trying for a relationship.

You know what? That makes a whole lot of sense. So, now I don't mind being friends with Amanda. I doubt we will get back together, but at least I won't be as bitter about it.



Oh yeah, the advisor also suggests that you don't call yourselves a "couple" until you've seen each other on the John... and that's freakin' funny!
