An Awkward Afternoon

Today was Kyle, the outgoing Production Director's, last day at WMDH. So for lunch, a few of us went to the pizza buffet place for lunch. It was pretty good and I made my boss crack up when I made an off-the-cuff remark about Spud Webb.

On the way back to the station, some of us spot this guy riding a moped and looked like a monkey. My boss was driving and didn't see him as he dove past into a parking lot. In true A-Team fashion, he makes a bat-turn into the lot and we try and trail him to get a better look.

We keep insisting he is some sort of terrorist and that catching up to him will prevent some sort of catastrophe. Unfortunately, we never seem to catch up and head back with our dreams of heroic parades and award ceremonies of courage and valor trumped by a sneaky guy on a wimpy Vespa.

After getting back from lunch at the pizza buffet today, I went to work trying to get all the spots that needed to be done for Monday finished. As I was in the middle of editing one of them, one of my other bosses (I have several, but it's not as bad as Peter at IniTech) walks into the production studio with a random lady.

We're introduced and I learn that the lady is applying for the production director job... the same job I take over next week until someone is hired full time.

Now, I knew I was going to be in a bit of a fight to keep the job. However, it was a bit of a shock that on the last day the current Prod. Director is leaving and my final day of training that I'm introduced to my, for lack of a better word, "competition".

I was nice though and didn't think much more of it. But, at about the time I was set to leave for the day, ANOTHER candidate for the job is introduced to me.

So who knows how many people are going to apply for this job. However, I think I definitely have a leg-up or two. I've had three days longer to get acquainted with the process, I've worked with everyone for a while now because of the weekend on-air shift, and I'm pretty sure everyone likes me.

All I have to do this upcoming week is do a good job and I'm pretty sure the job is mine, permanently. (Plus, I'm pretty sure I'll demand a pay increase if that happens)

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

PS: I burned my tongue earlier. Doesn't that feeling suck? I mean, it doesn't really hurt anymore, it just feels weird on the roof of my mouth. Kinda like fine sandpaper.
