Jobs and Monster Movies

Today wasn't a total wash like I thought it would be. Even though I never heard back from that call center place, so I'm probably going to call them Monday at some point and make sure they don't give a crap. I also got up pretty late today. However, after a couple of hot pockets and a shower, I decided to go do something.

Yep, I went and saw the new monster movie 'Cloverfield'.

I'm not a huge fan of JJ Abrams, so I only vaguely knew that it was going to be a very different experience. I also wasn't expecting to see the monster as much as you do in the movie. Plus, it didn't have Matthew Broderick in it. Which, if 'Godzilla' taught us anything, it's that Ferris Beuler can't save your crappy monster movie.

The only bad thing was it left WAY too many questions unanswered. I mean, you can't easily do a sequel to a movie like that...

But, I still thought it was pretty good.

Oh, and I saw the new Teaser Trailer for the new STAR TREK MOVIE!!!!!! I almost shat my pants I was so excited.


Ok, to follow the shat remark, here's a JOB SEARCH UPDATE:

-After today, I think I've filled out a total of about 9-10 applications to various places. Maybe I'll hear back from one soon.

-I went to a staff placement office the other day and got an initial offer for a sales job at a place that sells picture packages to schools and daycare centers. It sounds ok, but it wouldn't start until the beginning of Feburary... which sucks because rent is due soon.

-While I was at the movie, I got a call from the same staffing place saying they had another job available. When I got back I called them and scheduled an interview for a temporary receptionist job at a place that sells furniture to schools. (It's interesting that both my solid job prospects so far have something to do with selling stuff to schools...) But, it would probably start much sooner than the sales job and it could lead to something permanent if I do a good job.

-OFFICIAL EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Still Unemployed.


Ironically, I'm wearing my t-shirt that says "Unemployed" on the front; yet I have a job interview for next week...

I think that's weird.
