Concerts

I'm taking time out of my very busy week to write in my blog because:
1) I have a headache.
2) I've neglected my blog a bit too much in the past few months.
3) LULZ

Today, Daft Punk's new live album, "Alive 2007", was released in North America. As soon as I get some money and a free second to go to the local music repository, I will rock out HARD to this album. It's gotten some solid reviews.

Which got me thinking about something I've been wanting to blog about for some time now. What five concerts MUST I see before I die?

I'll admit, I'm not a concert-goer. You could count the number of concerts I've been to on one hand. Normally I'd just rather sit at my computer and rock out by my lonesome. However, there are five concerts I will go see once I decide to stop being a lazy douche.

So, here they are in no particular order:

-Daft Punk: Since I started the blog with them, I'll start the list with them as well. If the videos I've seen from one of their live performances is any indication, these guys know how to rock a venue. Light show + Killer Music Mix + EVERYONE knowing the lyrics to the songs = WIN.

-Green Day: Some have said these guys have sold out or gone middle of the road, ETC. I, on the other hand, have been a fan since Middle School when I first bought "Dookie". Of all the albums in my CD collection, Green Day is the most frequent artist. Say what you will, but I think they rock... even their new stuff is good.

-AC/DC: Sure, all their songs sound the same. Sure, Brian Johnson's voice makes infants cry. But hell, that's what makes them so GREAT! This is the concert I want a least 5 of my friends to see with me. Enjoying this band live MUST be a team effort.

-Aerosmith: Yep. If for no other reason than to watch in awe as Steven Tyler belt his way through my favorite Aerosmith song, as well as one of the best rock ballads of all time: "Angel". (Have I mentioned this will be the first song my wife and I dance to at my wedding reception? Well, it is.)

-Beastie Boys: A blend of rap and rock that mere humans like myself just cream our jeans to. And that's all that needs to be said.

RUNNERS UP: (These are the bands that I REALLY want to see, but it won't break my heart if I don't get around to it)

-Journey: I have three words: "Don't Stop Believin'" (They ALMOST made the top five)

-Stevie Wonder: Blind or not, he rocks.

-Earth, Wind, and Fire: Good stuff.

-Eric Clapton: Just so I can say, "I remember back at the Clapton concert..."

-Santana: This man is a guitar-wielding god of rock. (Also barely missed the top 5)

-Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Mellow music + weed = OH YEAH.

IF I ONLY HAD A TIME MACHINE...: (These are the ones that, had I been born in a different time, I would've killed to see. Though there is a possibility some of these concerts could come around these days, I'd much rather see them in their prime.)

-Jimi Hendrix

-The Beatles

-Huey Lewis and the News

-Chuck Berry

-Elvis Presley

-CCR

-KISS

-Genesis

-RUN DMC

Ah, now it's time to rock and dream...

I've seen both Aerosmith and Tom Petty and both concerts were extremely awesome. I would have to say Tom Petty was better only because it was an outdoor concert and everyone around us was feeling the love (aka stoned out of their mind [not me, I'm a good kid]). Plus, I'm a HUGE TP fan.

Aerosmith indoors was pretty good and Aunt Carla (Aunt Carol) bought me a bottle of beer and I was 18 so very memorable. Plus...Joe Perry...mmmhmmmm.

Those are two concerts worth the price of admission, if you get a chance GO! However, I also saw N'Sync and Hanson which probably aren't up your alley...
