2005: A Year In Review

Hey New Years Baby's,

It's almost time for a new year to begin! Time to set the resolutions that will ultimately be broken either willingly or not. For instance, I resolved to have sex this year... and it didn't happen. Got close a few times, but it just didn't happen.

So, in the spirit of destroying my self-esteem, lets look at some of the events in my life of this past year...

-January 18: Broke up with Kathleen; Yes, January 2005... we broke up for the second time in 8 months. It was weird, but I think I came out a stronger person... plus, I got a shipment of new underwear on the same day. Major plus to the people at Ebay on that one.

-January 30: "Paul Revere in the Snow";Got drunk, got down to my boxers, ran around the park in front of the old ZBT house in the freezing night, got pelted with snowballs and tackled. Fun night.

-February 22: First pictures on TGM; A momentous day when I learned how to put up my digital images on blogspot. The first two were: Me with a buzzcut and my dry-erase board with a picture of an oriental guy saying "ookii mono" ('big thangs' in japanese).

-February 23: Jake tasted a condom; Just... weirdness...

-March 12: Won a Poker Tourney; 200 bucks in winnings went into buying the best Russel Crowe movie EVER! (If you don't know which one it is... then I pity you straight to hell.)

-March 15: Best dorm quote ever!; Robby Brooksby will be known for many things in my life. He does 'big thangs" and knows it feels damn good to be a gangsta. However, when he accidently mistook Jacques Cousteau for a painter one fateful night (which so happened to be the Ides of March)... I had the best laugh in my entire life. Well played Robby... well played.

-March something: Got busted for alcohol in my dorm room; Not a pleasant evening. But, I got pretty drunk afterwords... so it was all good.

-April 13: Realized that I'm an addict; Yes kids, Nate-O is addicted to Mountain Dew. It's not as sad as it sounds... but when I had upwards of 20 twenty ounce mountain dew caps on my desk, I knew I had a problem.

-April 15/16: Toga Party @ DGI; A fun night. Met a good friend. Got drunk... good times.

-April 26: Made worst mistake of my life; I joined the the ranks of "Night Staff" at Woody/Shales. Now, I may be a morning person... but I sure as hell don't have the fortitude to stay up THAT late. I will never do that again! EVER!! Period!!!

-May 15: Spent exactly 5 dollars at Taco Bell; My highest achievement as a consumer in this country. I doubt it will ever be topped by the feats of man.

-June 28: 21st Birthday; Wow! That's all I can say... it was a crazy night. I had an absolute blast. The only con was that I was so hungover the next day that I couldn't work. But, it was still worth it.

-July 19: 100th post on TGM; I have the attention span of a walrus on crack... but I somehow was able to keep writing in this journal for over 100 entries. A major accomplishment in this day and age. I gave myself a severely crippiling pat on the back after this.

-July 29: First Chicago Cubs Game; CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!!! I had pretty good seats, had a few ice-cold Budweisers and a hot dog, and had a great time with my Dad. So far... one of my favorite vacations. (At least in the top 5)

-August 7: No more Dance Clubs; After experiencing my first real night club... I realized I don't like them very much. I'd rather just get drunk at a bar, which is perfectly legal...

-August 10: Apartment; Moved into my Muncie apartment which is nestled just off-campus. It's been great so far!

-August 28: Second Worst Mistake of my life; This was the night I met Amanda... and it was just a shitfest for the next few months. Definitely one of the low points of the year.

-September 9/10: Car broke down; Shitty alternator = Shitty drive home. End of story.

-October 8: Kegstand...; No ordinary kegstand either. My brother and I did them at my cousin's wedding reception. It was definitely the drinking highlight of the night. I think I've secured myself as the crazy college kid in my familly! Woot!

-October 15: Homecoming; I wish I could say something cool happened on this day... but that wasn't the case. Next year will be different... OH YEAH! I PROMISE!

-November 1: Car Wreck; Yep... my Nissan Sentra died on this day. It was kinda sad. However, I almost like my mini-van better. So, I guess it wasn't so bad.

-November 19: Jagerbomb; After getting dumped for the second time, I hosted a night of drinking at my bachelor pad. It was fan-fucking-tastic. It's always a good night when I can't recall the last fourth of the night.

-December 10: Holiday shopping; Always very fun but was also very tiring. A welcome break from the drudgery of worrying about finals and shit.

-December 29: Final Entry of the Year?; Here I sit... writing this little ode to 2005. I can't help but wonder what will come next year with new classes, a new roommate, and a new outlook on life. Oh well... we'll just have to wait and see.
